Mediation
Mediation is an ‘alternative dispute resolution’ (ADR) process in which the concerned parties engage voluntarily. It can achieve solutions that are less costly, more timely, more creative and less damaging of relationships than adversarial approaches to dispute resolution.
Mediation is defined by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland as being…
…a process whereby an independent, neutral mediator assists the parties [who are in conflict] to come to agreement through a collaborative process. The mediator’s role is non-judgmental and non-directive. The mediator is neither judge nor arbitrator and does not adjudicate or give decisions on the rights or wrongs of the parties. The mediator supports the parties in identifying their issues and needs and in exploring how those needs can be addressed and how they might come to agreement.
Paul is able to offer skilled mediation support in situations where a dispute has resulted in difficulties in either workplace or community settings. He has been a Certified Mediator with the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland since 2011 and operates under the Code of Ethics of the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland.
Facilitated Conflict Management
Paul uses a range of facilitative approaches to avert and address conflict in workplaces and communities, including a participatory method known as ‘Conflict Mapping’. He is also able to facilitate constructive engagement in conflict resolution through the use of licensed online conflict analysis tools. As a mature organisational and community development practitioner, he identifies and targets the root causes of conflict within work teams and community groups.
Conflict Management Coaching
As well as providing generic executive coaching, Paul equips people to work through challenging conflict situations through CINERGY® Conflict Management Coaching and Conflict Dynamics Profiling®. He also promotes healthy workplace relationships through the iOpener Happiness at Work® coaching method.
